Any thoughts on the Todd Astle selection? Did a good enough job with the ball until Pandya unleashed and may yet make a contribution with the bat, but everytime he's been on the park he seems like an afterthought to Williamson. Feels like we haven't learned anything in the Astle vs Sodhi debate.

Meanwhile, Santner has no clue against Shami, will do well to survive here.

They could easily do it in singles from here.. Neesham is looking awesome but this is a risky way to go about it lol

It's a **** decision and the cynic in me thinks it's Stead and his Cantabrian eye patch on. Astle is irrelevant as an ODI bat, and I can't see him being effective in England with the ball. Ish is clearly the better ODI bowler, and whilst he is an 'inferior' bat - Astle is batting 9 in this side. Complete waste of time.

Jimmy is far, far too good to have ever have been out of this side. Hopefully the attitude never creeps back in because he is one serious player. Not sure his bowling will ever be more than 3-4 over worthy, however.

It's amazing how often batsmen just wander out of their crease during an appeal thinking they're somehow just immune to a runout.

reckon his bowling is not far from turning a corner. Mechanically, it's all there now as he's solved his issues of falling away. Just a matter of being able to bang a heavy length more consistently.

It’s definitely vastly improved from where it was prior to this season, I reckon.

Such a shame, but hugely encouraging to see Neesham carrying on his batting form from the Sri Lanka series. Really looks the goods.

Hope so. But I've just not seen him remedy the inability, as you say, of hitting a length. Drags down way, way too much. May be that he just needs to bowl a shitload to make it innate, if he has solved the technical stuff. I just love the base he hits from as a batsman, it's so clean - similar to what Gup does.

Re: Neesham's dismissal, how come it was run out as opposed to stumped? Only reading cricinfo, but it doesn't sound like he was attempting a run. Insignificant as far as the match is concerned, I appreciate, just curious.
