Meanwhile, back over in the minnows' camp, who should NZ play in tomorrow's dead rubber match? Stead seems hell-bent on playing Munro in the forlorn hope that he'll eventually push his average up towards an astronomical 26. No doubt Munro will score a meaningless quick-fire 60 or 70 in the next couple of games to secure his undeserved place in our world cup squad, and he may even add to his grand total of 2 (yes, feckin' 2) overs bowled so far in this series. Joy.

Anywho, this is my side for tomorrow:

Guptill
Latham
Williamson
Taylor
Nicholls
Neesham
Astle
Santa
Henry
Boult
Fergusson
More or less my side though would prefer Latham in the middle order. On board with the idea of Nicholls opening.

In all fairness CdG deserves to play the remaining two games, he's had close to no game time this summer and needs to restate his case (recent efforts have not helped his cause for sure). With Neesham and Astle also on trial, no idea where to fit him in though - opener maybe?!

Yeah, some of the recent selections, or non-selections, have been questionable imo. You'd think de Grandhomme would've been picked for the first ODI given the lengthy break he'd just had. Then he was overlooked again for game 3 - wtf?? And how must Matt Henry be feeling about the selectors repeatedly ignoring him? Meanwhile, they persist with the consistently non-performing Munro (who Williamson doesn't seem to want to give a bowl - so he ain't exactly performing in that discipline either). Any optimism I had before this series that we were on the right track has well and truly evaporated.

Henry isnt being ignored, he failed vs Sri Lanka. I think being a benchwarmer for a year completely ruined his match rhythm.

If that's the reason for his continued non-selection, why was he even picked (and retained) in this squad? Regardless of the usual platitudes about doing what's best for the team, I doubt he'll be feeling that chuffed about being a full-time nets bowler.

They must really like his personality IMO.

It's funny, when we had more of a rotation policy, Henry had more game time (along with Milne) and bowled better. Now we've been trying more settled XIs he's turned to rubbish. Something small can be said for rotational policies.

Why are we so against picking a specialist batsman like Will Young in the squad. It's genuinely baffling at this point.

Well Mike you see after 3 games where the batting totally failed, the answer is to swap the bowlers around and see which one is the lucky talisman that will ensure Munro scores runs.

From what I've seen:
If India play like they played - the bowling in particular - against Australia, they are well behind England.
The full strength Australian team was clobbered by England; and the team without the cheats were humiliated.

If they can raise their game as they did against New Zealand, they are as strong as England.
To be on par with England, I think the Indian bowling has to be a lot better than that of England.
no bumrah. also no pandya who allow kulcha.
the full bowling attack 4-1ed australia in 2017.

Blair Tickner getting a shot in the final T20I. Good to see. Daryl Mitchell with a call up I was not expecting but not averse to; kinda annoying they're not persisting with Chapman tbh.

They look strong but don't oversell it. They're not even the strongest looking ODI side, let alone unbeatable.

They struggled to put away a severely undermanned Aus side like a week ago, with nearly a full strength side

England are easily the team to beat in ODIs at this stage
Mostly an accurate assessment. Bumrah playing in the Aus ODI series would have made a massive difference. The likes of Khaleel who replaced him turned out to be duds. But then, Smith and Warner were missing as well.

If all the strengths fall in place, teams do look unbeatable occasionally. In India's case it is bowling and top order batting. Would be interesting to know how this team performs when they are like 60/3 with Rohit, Shikhar and Virat back in the pavilion. I hope a few such scenarios happen in the next few matches or so.
