*Official* India Tour of New Zealand 2019

I don't have the chance to watch any domestic cricket. If he's good enough, why isn't he being selected?
He's the myth of CW really. Isn't the bowler he was 4-5 years ago, just another 135-140 type pacer.

Southee, ehhh, what are you smoking Athlai? Southee hasn't taken wickets in years, you need wickets to win ODI's in 2019.

It would be nice if Milne wasn't injured all the time - I'd love to have a 5 man attack of Ferguson, Boult, Milne, Santner, Astle (with back up from Williamson and Neesham when required)

It’s 39 over 4 years
exactly

henry's had plenty of genuinely good performances before this summer, and no one mentioned mcclenaghan but you.

your entire argument is lazy whataboutery and straw clutching, especially when you made comment a week or so ago bemoaning southee's lack of ability to transition between formats (rendering your test game comment contradictory).

southee isn't good enough. whether henry is the bowler he was 2 years ago is another issue, but we do know southee isn't good enough and any opinion to the contrary is ignoring 4 years of evidence.

it is time to look at other options.

Probably because of his injury record and being over 30. More a bounce/seam bowler, haven't had one of them in the BC's for a few years now.. No idea why.

Getting dramatic from the selectors would give Young a chance to open, and bringing in Bennett and Jamieson. Why not have a look at these guys who are close? Boult probably needs a rest anyway. I'd watch the next couple games if they did that..

i don't think jamieson is quick enough yet tbh. bounce and swing for days, but if he could find 5-10kph get him in tharrrr

We don’t have identifiably better wicket taking options, take the bloke that’s less likely to get pummelled. Not dying in the death is what wins matches in 2019, being able to build pressure. That certainly isn’t Henry right now. I’m not saying Southee is going to be some kind of miracle worker, he’s been distinctly mediocre. But that mediocre option is our best one.

Spot the bloke that’s been spending more time in the American Politics thread than watching cricket these last few seasons.

McClenen and co. pop up because we are for some reason talking about the last four years, and he was one of the Southee alternatives that was tried and failed.

doug bracewell career rip

ooh nice bumper tho
Well Jacob Oram was a gun ODI bowler due to height and bounce and he would've been slower than Jamieson
the game has moved on from 130kph opening bowlers. witness tim southee's odi career post-2015. his height and swing might save him, but im skeptical.

Last three seasons in the Ford Trophy, 48 wickets from 24 matches, average 17.67, rpo 4.49 (Bennett, that is).

Surely deserves a shot.

i've seen enough cricket to know southee is as bad as his stats, maybe worse

Hope India slot Gill straight in for Kohli in the next couple of games. Looking forward to seeing him bat.

I thought we weren't too far off the top teams, this series has been a real wake up call.

Idk how we're going to manage against India, England and Australia in the WC.

India is making us look like an associate level team with bat, ball and in the field.

Attack has its issues for sure but for all the selection debates, they just never seem to be given enough runs to play with against the top sides.

I didn't say he hadn't done well in domestic cricket, he just isn't the same Hamish Bennett we saw back in 2014 against India. He'd be 7-8k's slower on average at least.

How is Hamish Bennett doing and will the selectors bring in a few bowlers to look at before the WC?

Hey, I'd love for Southee to come good obviously, I just think he's a waste of time in limited overs cricket now. It's not just the lack of swing with the white ball anymore, it's that he's down around 130k on average. Southee at his best was 137-141, which is a big difference. New Zealand imo need to do what England did to Anderson and Broad five years ago and keep him soley for test cricket.

Was away overseas. Tried to catch some action sneaking away but no luck. Skygo no good overseas. Other links didn't work either, just for home catching up on the action. No good as usual against India. Trusted batting head taken some beating both by pace and spin.

Looks like I missed good knocks from Ross, Kane and Latham. Indians are taking us apart clinically.
