*Official* India Tour of New Zealand 2019

Terrible performance from NZ, however they wont change the batting line up, they have committed to Munnerz opening for the WC. I guess everyone bar KW was poor, so they can all feel equally useless and be keen to perform next time round. Poor reading of the pitch, decision was based on past performance of years ago, seems lazy.

Southee over Sodhi doesn't add up IMO, but to be fair there was no chance for the bowlers to do anything that game.

Sloppy cricket really, really hoping we show our class in the next match, because we got schooled.

Ffs, this tour was anodyne enough without India resting their best 2 players. Barely interested in going to next week's game at the stadium at all.

We sure did.

With regard to Munro and Southee, I don't think we should give them any more than the next 2 games before making the hard decisions. The harsh reality is that neither of them has produced for a lengthy period. Since the start of 2018, Southee has played 15 ODIs and taken only 13 wickets at 44.93. Munro has batted 17 times for just 383 runs at 22.53 with a top score of 87 (over the same number of games, Guptill has scored 634 @ 37.29). I've been a big Southee fan for many years, but it's time to move on imho. And I've never been confident that Munro would cement his spot in the team. Unless they both perform brilliantly in the next two games, it's time to cut them loose and give their replacements a couple of cracks at India, I reckon.

Time to get Gill in now!!
Too close to world cup for that, isn't it? I would rather play both Karthik and Rayudu and settle on one of them to be the contender for first XI (other middle order spots are taken by Jadhav, Dhoni and Pandya). I am biased towards Karthik myself.

World's #1 batsman and #1 bowler out of the series. Does take a lot out of the contest. Good opportunity to test bench strength for India though.

Umesh Yadav is kicking butt in domestic cricket. Why isn't he in the squad instead of Khaleel or Siraj? He should be one of the 4 pacers to be picked in the world cup squad.

Maybe he's regarded as not accurate enough. Can't see much wrong in giving a couple of chances to the n00bs in these types of series, I think he'll be considered for the WC squad regardless.

Umesh is one of my favourite bowler but he's really unsuited to ODIs. You can get away with missing your length occasionally (as long as you're not bowling at the death) but not being able you control your line is an ODI captain's worst nightmare, and Umesh's command of line is pretty horrible for a bowler of his quality. Mix that with his natural inclination for fast outswingers and general lack of variation and there probably aren't many proper fast bowlers (ie. I'm excluding medium pacers here) in the world more clearly better suited to Tests over ODIs than Umesh Yadav.

I hope they give a chance to Shubhman Gill. Even if it is in the middle order.
It is a bit disheartening to see that none among the trio of Shaw, Gill and Pant have played any ODI cricket for us recently. I would back at least one of them to succeed. It is not as if we do not have any spot to be filled.

It is close to the world cup but I am not averse to getting him in to the WC squad if he has a great start. Somehow a middle order of Rayudu and Karthik doesn't inspire confidence.

Shaw is still injured I believe. Pant’s playing against the Lions, hopefully he does well there.

I think Karthik is the closest thing to a good finisher we have right now. Less interested in getting rid of him, at least while Pandya is away. Rayudu’s gotta go though.

I quite like the idea of Dhoni at 4,brings more to the role than Rayudu. Play Karthik, Jadhav and Pandya at 5,6,7 and you've got the best balance possible.

Didn't Pant play a couple of ODIs against the Windies recently? Good guy to have as reserve batsman/WK though India may have that covered with Karthik already.
