*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of New Zealand 2018/19

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I think his diminishing pace (like Southee) and one dimension short ball game could make him cannon fodder over there. "Extra pace" in their pitches these days is a bit of a myth, unless you're talking about the way they crank their speed guns up.

But he deserves his chance for a crack with performances over the best few seasons, hopefully he performs.
He offers a point of difference to Boult and Southee, though. I don't think people realise just how much variation Wagner has in his 'short stuff'. Not saying he'll kill them on Aussie pitches but I don't think he'll do worse than Bracewell and Southee did on that last tour.

Kuggelejin's fastest was 142.2

He's got good pace and accuracy. Generally around the 139-142 mark today with 2 or 3 balls below that mark.

Personally I've always rated him. Been wanting to have him in the side for a while. The way he plays his game is very stokes-esque. Not comparing the two but the bat hard, bowl fast attitude is sort of similar. Doesn't mind a confrontation as well. Ideally, he should be playing all the remaining LO's in place of southee before the cup, byt we all know lord southee is undroppable. And koogs can swing the ball in favorable conditions. Did so on that Bangladesh/Ireland tri series tour in 2017. Once again, southee is blocking his spot in the LO's. Kuggellejin bowls quicker, bats better. He deserves a run and I honestly believe he needs to be in that world cup squad alongside Neesham and sants. CDG, corey anderson, bracewell in the second tier but should not be in that WC squad. Bracewell was impressive today but Scotty koogs just seems a lot more promising at this point.
I reckon Kuggs was probably bowling a touch below full pace too tbh. Not that it matters -- if around 140 is where he operates best, who cares if he can push 145?

I definitely understand the slight...aversion...to Kuggs, but if he gets a sustained run in the side I think he'd be a very useful package and would deserve one of the reserve slots. I'd probably give him the edge for #15 over Bracewell at the moment (assuming two of Santner, Neesham and Lord Colin are in the starting XI).

Yeahhhhh he's a lot like Henry and Boult at top speed. can hit those mid 140's at full pelt. And once upon a time, lord southee the undroppable.

Here's my ideal NZ XI for the WC

1) GUP
2) MUNRO
3) WILLIAMSON
4) BOSS
5) LATHAM
6) NICHOLLS
7) NEESH
8) SANTNER
9) KUGGS
10) FERGUSON
11) BOULT

Sodhi, CDG, Henry, Siefert to use for rotation or if the track/conditions demand a difference.

That team isn't looking too bad, though I think it's a bit early to say that Kugz is a preferred option for the ODI side. Reckon if they dump Southee it will be Henry, and they'll just try to Mills it - get him through a 7 over spell first up and squeeze in 3 more in the 30-35 over period. Use Ferguson, Boult and Sodhi in the last 10.

He should be picked for the Indian series but that won’t happen.

Funny story but apparently Doull was told not to bring up Southee’s place in the one day team after bringing up his stats during the last one dayer against Sri Lanka. That came from the NZ coaching staff.

Munro and Kane as 6th bowler isn't confidence inspiring, even if Kane should bowl himself more.

Basically agreed with flem here. Both Kuggs and Bracewell need to do something more than towel a side that's been hammered all tour. They should get some game time vs India and Bangladesh (who are ranked higher than Sri Lanka in ODIs)

That's pathetic if true.

By the way, does anyone know what the particulars of Milne's current injury troubles are?

he's a skynz employee. they're not his boss and i can't believe they had the nerve to say that if true, and that he listened

Don't mind that side, but I think Sodhi is easily a top 5 white ball bowler in the country, and should playing alongside Santner. With flat pitches every where and Sodhi (and leg spinners in general) going really well ATM, I think it's be silly to not play him. Play your best bowlers IMO, which are Boult, Ferguson, Santner and Sodhi. The remaining spot to be filled by Neesham or a Henry/Bracewell/Kuggs/Southee (although his 125km trundlers are trash ATM).

Anyone else chuckle when Scott Kuggeleijn received a high full-toss the other night and Mark Richardson commented... "Well there's a few First Class cricketers around the country who are well aware that Kuggeleijn himself has let the odd one slip in the past"? (or words to that effect).

He was proven not guilty. You have to be an ass to bring it up. The lady tried to trap him but failed. Case over.
