Personally think Seifert/Neesham should have come in ahead of Nicholls.
Nah I rate it. In a bubble just trying to score as many as possible in this innings you're right, but from a WC preparation perspective it's very important to get Nicholls some innings in this circumstance where he has to come out and be icing from ball one, given he'll likely be at six. And even if you're still holding out for him to be relieved of that role, having him fail at it will help that along too.

For a similar reason I'm surprised Seifert is in instead of Neesham. If Neesham plays in the World Cup this with 6 overs to go is also a circumstance he'd have to grapple with.

I've seen Perera be surprisingly effective across lots of teams/situations/roles in the past couple of years. It's very troubling. Life is no fun when he's not a meme cricketer.

Shame for Nicholls to get run out like that, I just can't see the dude ever be a good closer in this situation. Reminds me of when NZ had Broom down at 6 for a few series when he first made the ODI team.. He's an accumulator, not a ball striker. Switching him and Munnerz would have a better balance..

Probably the most troll cricketer in the SL team, he's always dangerous with the bat but is 90% liability with the ball and 10% very handy jammy wickets
