*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of New Zealand 2018/19

Yep I kinda feel Seifert is in there as a backup opener if Munro fails too many times.
I wondered if they may play both Seifert and Latham against India if Munro continues to fail.

Plus then, we’ll have two Timmy S’s in the team. And everyone can chant “Timmy!”

munro's inability to pick slower balls is perplexing. even club cricketers have them and it's not like it's only one bowler catching him out, it's every bowler.

I think Munnerz should be moved back down to 5, surely the opening role "project" has failed. Openers to fill the hole could be the keeper (Latham/Siefert), Young, Williamson or even Neesham. I guess that's the hard thing, there is no clear option.

I'd be tempted to have Seifert opening in the 3rd odi

Maybe, though it's a huge role for someone only making his debut today. If it is a thought for the WC squad then I too hope he gets a couple of games opening this summer as an audition.

We can cover the loss of Munro's bowling if we have Neesham and De Grandhomme at 6 and 7, even though those are two of the most hittable ODI bowlers in world cricket.

It’s pathetic how our commentators clearly don’t know SL players who have been around for several years and don’t even feel they need to hide it.

i don't believe in the idea that several mediocre 5th bowlers equals one good 5th bowler. if santa can make #7 his own then we should think about playing him plus four quicks.

I wouldn't go for any particular rule of thumb on this, it depends on the relative strength of the batting and bowling of each member of the side to decide what the best balance is imo.

We've seen enough NZ lower order collapses from great platforms that lower order batting has to be a consideration, especially in what's likely a batsman's world cup.

2015 was meant to be a batsmans world cup and the two best bowling sides made the final

ideally one of the allrounders can pull themselves together so santa can bat #8, but im not counting on it

big daddy has lost his ruthlessness this season. he's looked invincible every game but only has 1 ton to his name across all forms and a billion 50s.

it's what separates him from steve smith and he'll become a regular joe root if he keeps this up.
