A cheat is a cheat

I hadn't ever heard of him. One of them he crashed through the boards with the ball in his hand and was half in with the crowd. He jumped up threw the ball back in and signalled it was only two runs. He did it again 5 overs later albeit slightly less obvious

Back then the rule was that the ball had to hit the fence. None of this player touching rubbish we have these days.

Now showing the 3rd game in the series and Steve Waugh fumbles a sitting at point the ball bounces on the ground and lands under his shoulder he picks it up and claims the catch
Lucky the umpire Mel Johnson was having none of it

He did it to Lara in the 95 series and succeeded.

Then the umpire cheated. Appealing is not cheating. Is it cheating whenever you appeal for caught behind with no snick? It can be hard to know with some catches. You let the umpire decide.

There's nothing new about all this. There are three established facts -

1. Australian fans are very, very sensitive of even the slightest non cricket ability related criticism
2. Rich history and tradition of cheating
3. ***** sucks

Nah just sick of hypocrites. As a comparison see the convenient outrage when Waugh claims a catch compared to the “I’m so ok with that I won’t even mention it” attitude when Matthews claimed a bump ball catch off (was it?) Curran

Dhoni claiming Peterson at Lord’s remains the most blatant bounced ball claimed as a catch in cricket history.

See also, Strauss (very sad about his wife btw) claiming Hughes on the 09 Ashes tour. That was up there with Harper claiming a c&b off Bevan in that memorable New Years one dayer at the scg.

So sensitive

Every criticism of Australia is rebutted with one from another country

Fascinating

Matthews did not claim it. He was unsure if it carried and asked the umpire. This has been pointed out to you before yet you keep lying. Trying the age old truth by repetition tactic I see. Typical aussie.

Also Waugh literally picked it up off the ground. This has also been pointed out before.

low catch discourse is the worst cricket discourse
Yep. I'm willing to bet the majority of time they can't completely tell whether they grassed it or not. Of course you do get Rashid Latif esque situations, but otherwise.....

Have you forgotten about the Waugh ones we're mentioning? They're literally as bad if not worse than the Latif catch.

We're not talking about low catches. But instances where the ball is literally picked up off the ground.

The Lara one is just as bad. He pins the ball to the ground with his chest and reaches underneath his dishonest cheating Australian body and picks it up.

So stfu Daemon you moron
