craig cumming is an underrated gem in our mostly terrible box. he actually watches cricket (international and domestic) outside of nz internationals and the ipl

He is easily the worst commentator on the team due to his terrible use of the English language. Absolute punisher.

no way. strong accent but he can't control that. ian smith and richardson are the joint worst, followed by doull with his wanker accent when he wants to sound sophisticated.

He says things like "he come out to bat" instead of "he came out to bat", inexcusable as a commentator imo.

Doully is a good presenter for the end of match presentations etc but get a bit annoyed with his commentary.

I actually quite like Scott Styris, leads me to believe he is a much better tactician of the game than I had previously thought when he was a player.

Don't mind Richardson so much, his incessant loudness gets frustrating. Smithy mostly ok apart from his ridiculous biases (Bracewell etc).

Not wanting to beat up female commentators but Hockley/Murdoch are pretty terrible. Would much rather hear Riki Swannell commentate international level (she's been great at domestic/radio).

Smith talking up Bracewell again.

Is he taking the p***?
I knew he’d get back into this team somehow, leapfrogged about 10 other players somehow but he’s done it. Watching that 20/20 last night between ND and CD you’d have a hard time trying to convince anyone Bracewell is a better option then any of Kuggeleijn, Rance, Wheeler or Tickner. Crazy

what's crazier is he's being talked about as a cdg/neesham alternative

yeah, if i had to rank the reserves i'd put henry and ferguson clearly ahead of the pack and then you'd have to ask yourself whether more wicket to wicket medium pace is worth it when colin does the same role. guys like bennett, jamieson, tickner and kuggs all bring something more wickets focused to the side.

edit - this is tests, tho a lot of the same names are around the odi team

By who, Ian Smith? He’d bat behind Santner surely, so that leaves him batting at eight at the highest. Really don’t see any need for his military mediums when we have a whole host of better options.

We’re slowly moving towards that 2009-11 period of the New Zealand team where lead by Vettori he was keeping a lot of his mates employed. Exactly why I’ve thought for 18 months now Hesson needed to go and New Zealand cricket needed to bring in a new outlook, voice. Not this yes man in Gary Stead but someone who would actually come in and pick the right players, just like Hesson and Edgar did when they were first appointed.

i agree. my first 4 bowlrs for the wc would be bout, henry, ferguson, santa. that 5th bowler spot is a concern unless latham and santa continue their odi batting improvement and we can run with 5 proper bowlers with santa at 7.

southee is a quality reserve and it might fire him up into getting his odi bowling to where it should be, and behind those core bowlers it's a bit of a mix and match. this summer i'd like us to rest boult a bit and give henry, ferguson, southee and a couple of others (milne? kuggs?) a proper go.
