**** me there was no need for shite luck. They were going to get rolled over anyway so an odd dismissal is infuriating.

Would have thought Mark Nicholas to be a bit more informed about Shafiq having watched him in England and Australia in 2016.

As a Cape Town resident (kind of), I'm astonished there are still Valies up there to go watch the cricket!

Has this been a typical Olivier spell or what ?

Some loose balls, wicket-taking balls and he has hit the batsman.

Quite impressed. Just shows you how many Vaalies there are.

I mean they moving here to Cape Town in their droves for normal day to day life anyway.

If Olivier could be more consistent between the wicket taking deliveries he could push Ngidi imo. Just doubt he can correct it now. Handy fifth seamer to have around though it must be said.

I moved from PE via Randfontein so I suppose I should feel triggered... LOL?

How is it even a debate that pe or Durban should get boxing day next year. This crowd at centurion is better then any of those venues have managed for test cricket for 10 years.

Especially since we lost Abbott who was just as impressive in back-up. Could've been an SA test great in another era... Shades of Sylvester Clarke and co?

I don't like being reminded about Abbot. We didn't see the best of him in International cricket and that's taking into consideration his great record. He had a wide range of skills suited for Tests.

Olivier is an interesting bowler. His best is definitely Test standard, but he can tend to blow hot and cold.

Congratulations Dale Steyn

Will this pitch become quicker on day two?
On past experience it does but you never know anymore.

The other thing is the divits and the cracks which make batting day 4 and day 5 a nightmare.

Day 1, 2 and day 3 best for batting.
