*Official* India Tour of Australia 2018/19

Opening in Tests and opening in limited overs are not one and the same. Case in point: Martin Guptill

Well, considering the performances of openers he cannot do much worst than them. Sadly, they don't seem to have too many options out of their limited squad of 19 members. I hope he is persisted as an opener for next 2 tests and if he struggles then that's it. Otherwise, who knows that slot might belong to him atleast for sometime.

Sharma loves taking on the short ball. I'm predicting a play and miss plus ***y boundary laden 18 before he sends one down deep square legs throat.

But how on earth Rahul still stays on with team. He has totally lost it. He should have been sent back to play some Ranji matches atleast to gain some confidence. Ffs what he's gonna gain by sitting in that dressing room. Oh wait, so if one of the openers fails in this one then there's an excuse to bring back him. Nooooooo.

No Pandya is also interesting. They must like what they see in Vihari.
I guess they already made enough blunders regarding fitness issues related to their players that they are just not ready to take a risk on Hardik as he just played on match after injury. These are too many wise decisions in a match for Virat and Shastri. I have a bad feeling for this match.

They might be concerned about Pandya's match fitness considering he is only just back off injury. If so that makes the decision to jet him over in the first place look strange

When you check their past decisions then this is nothing strange. It should be only strange when they actually don't take strange decisions like next one's playing one.

Ashwin ruled out of Boxing Day Test, Rahul and Vijay axed

India name Playing XI for 3rd Test:

Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane (VC), Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah

AUSTRALIA XI: Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Tim Paine (capt), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.

For once atleast at the end of year Kohli and Shastri had found a way to select a correct playing 11. I believe Rohit and Mayank will open.
Sharma opening. Itstl

I mean, how big do you want this squad to be? 19 seems a pretty reasonable figure to me; they've just had **** luck with injuries and form.
