He didn't bowl any short rubbish. He bowled a few good length balls that were played right off the back foot.

He definitely bowls the occasional short one. But they're fast enough and don't bounce enough that his margin for error is a lot higher than for other batsmen.

And I think the batsmans mindset is set in just trying to survive so they're not ready to cash in on the bad balls
