Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Does anyone, young or old, going out to Barbados for the first test fancy playing in a charity cricket game as I've organised a game against a local team on Sunday 20th Jan at the Franklyn Stephenson (ex Notts ) Academy? If so I can be contacted at chris.chattaway3@btinternet.com

TPC still somehow ranked third in the test ratings despite not having a hit since February seems weird to me.

It takes a long time for players to drop in the rankings. Steyn was in the top 5 for ages before he started to drop and he's barely played any test cricket since 2015.

Think it's 1% per match missed, too slow if you ask me as it enables the home town fraud bowlers to stink up the to 5 or so for longer then they would do if they played away games and got treated like the hacks they are.

Yeah it wouldn't be such a problem if it properly differentiated home and away cricket.

I remember seeing that video and people were saying stuff like it's easy to turn a ball on that sort of surface. Those sort of responses seemed to miss the point though. At the age of six, this kid has great technique and variations presumably without having experienced googly syndrome. He's also using a cricket ball at that age meaning that if stays interested in cricket, the general feel of the ball will seem natural to him. As he gets older and stronger, his body will be able to generate more spin on the ball as well which would obviously have its benefits and indeed he already seems to be getting a fair bit of drift. As long as he reads about how spin bowling works (things like how the angle of the ball's spin influences drift, turn and drop) and he stays interested, he could be a good player.

The key thing about that video is how short he was bowling. As he gets older he'll have to bowl on full sized pitches and who knows how that will affect his technique and action. And an injury may ruin him too.

Best of luck to him though I'd love to see more entertaining leg spinners.

The only thing I noticed is how good is bowling action for a six year old. In my U/9s team half of us couldn't get the ball to the other end of the pitch

Currently is this the highest amount of genuine fast 90+ bowlers in the game as there has been for a long time?

I don't mean 90 every ball but bowlers who are able to bowl spells averaging between 89 - 91 or higher

Starc
Cummins
Haze
Pattinson??

Steyn
Rabada
Morris

Bumrah
Yadav
Shami

Chameera
Kumara

Henry

Amir
Wahab

Gabriel

Wood?

Others who also can but aren't on the test scene morkel archer mills and a couple saffas who play kolpak in england

Henry is rapid. Yeah had thought Ferguson but I've only seen him in t20 where lots of bowlers seem to be able to get it up there for a couple overs. Looking forward to seeing if he can do it over a longer spell. Does he bowl as quick in county and one day stuff?
