On day 5 with out loosing wicket &
Gurusinha /Arjuna Ranatunga on day 5 without loosing wicket, bats whole day - I think outstanding

Weather tomorrow? Reckon the pitch is going to have a pretty comfortable win this time round.

I think this 2nd innings sort of proves the value of the Dimuth-Matthews partnership in the first innings, showing the dressing room that you could occupy the crease on this pitch, and the bowlers will certainly take some stock from the fact that the NZ attack - arguably one of the best in the world couldn't take a single wicket today.

Get away with a draw here and SL would consider it a half victory given they were sent in on a fairly colourful pitch and 4 of the top 7 have put on decent or big scores this test

Wow, what a comeback from Mendis and Mathews! The first time in ten years that two batsmen have batted out a whole day. Well done Sri Lanka!

Hope this is a genuine turning point for Matthews' form. Love watching him bat. There's something about tall batsmen that I find very aesthetically pleasing (thierryhenry to jizz).

New Zealand seam bowlers have the toughest job in world cricket.

Bowl on dustbowls then return home to toil away on a slow, low roady mcroad road that after day 2 any side in the world would struggle to take 1 top order wicket a day on.

Something has to be done about the University Oval and the Basin.

Wagner's bowling looking very one dimensional , Sri Lankan batsman seem to have worked him out . What I saw in the morning session he was getting a good towelling.

Overcast and spits of rain in Wellington, and it’s meant to get worse. Not looking great for much play today.

Flat pitches tend to make even the best of bowlers look ordinary. Starc's spell vs NZ in Perth, resulted in nil wickets. That was the pitch that prompted Johnson to retire, basically.
