Australia ahead but days 2 and 3 are normally the best batting conditions. India look set to make 650-5 dec. onwards to an innings victory.
this is how test cricket works, pressure brings risky shots brings wickets. 6/280 is a fine result for the dayI have, and only one dismissal was due to the wicket rather than poor technique or indiscipline. We seem to be too easily satisfied with such outcomes.
Pressure? Marsh and Head both gave away their wickets when the bowling was verging on poor and scoring was relatively fast. One-day mentality in test matches, total gifts to the bowler.this is how test cricket works, pressure brings risky shots brings wickets. 6/280 is a fine result for the day
I think yes and no. Knowing the pitch is going full rogue, you need to try take advantage of any garbage that's served up. That garbage, however, is risky as well. The alternative is to just sit there and wait for some ball to jag across youPressure? I don't think the pitch is bad. Been said so many times though, India just bowled too short. Including all those ridiculous bouncersWhile the pitch had the odd misbehaviour I don't think it was that bad. Better to bat longer.
I meant more Khawaja and to an extent Handscomb too tbf. Bad shots but shouldn't be treated in isolationPressure? Marsh and Head both gave away their wickets when the bowling was verging on poor and scoring was relatively fast. One-day mentality in test matches, total gifts to the bowler.
Handscomb is a **** thoughI meant more Khawaja and to an extent Handscomb too tbf. Bad shots but shouldn't be treated in isolation
Khawaja was out before he was in, he's totally gone for whatever reason. Handscomb's shot was totally wrong for the pitch. And once again the total inability to get singles (something Harris and Paine have done) is a factor, that's down to the batting not the bowling in this case. They made it hard for themselves then gave it away.I meant more Khawaja and to an extent Handscomb too tbf. Bad shots but shouldn't be treated in isolation
to an extent but it's a bit churlish to discount the quality of the bowling during that spell. certainly deserved some wickets imoKhawaja was out before he was in, he's totally gone for whatever reason. Too early to call that Bumrah is the best indian quick ever to tour Aus. Kapil has a great record as well. 51 wickets in 11 matches at an excellent avg playing for a really poor team.Don’t want to bang on about it but India just persisted in bowling too short for the most part. This Bumrah bloke though - love him. Goes as hard at stumps as he does at the start, good pace, shapes it and hits the bat hard. Best Indian quick to ever tour here.
he's not a paceman, why would you want to get "behind the ball" when it's pitched a foot wide of off stumpBut he wasn’t behind the ball, it did a bit but I don’t think it was unplayable
If that was about concrete feet I could understand. He's still young but has quite a few ODIs under his belt and has shown some promise at test match level. What is with former players judging the game of a bloke who's 32 like he's 22?

"He's a fast learner."
You'd ****ing wanna be with 150 international matches and a world cup in the kitbag. And he still got nailed anyway.
