Also, Dick Brittenden's "Soreboard 69"is probably the best of the 50s - 70s cricket tour books, can often be found for $10 or less in a second hand bookshop.I liked this article on the last time NZ beat Pakistan away, in 1969.
Victorious Pakistan series in 1969 was strewn with cow dung, fans rioting and rifles
Not so sure about Santa in Tests, now that Sommers and Patel have been moderately successful. Love em in white-ball formats though.Next test XI

Agreed. Santner's only just returned to FC cricket anyway. His main appeal is bowling tight to hold up and end and to hit 70 odd when he's having a good day with the bat. I'd rather we be more aggressive and see if we can find a spinner who can actually take wickets at home. Not so sure about Santa in Tests, now that Sommers and Patel have been moderately successful. When? I haven't sighted him once this season.Agreed. Santner's only just returned to FC cricket anyway.

I mean, we roll out every plaudit and superlative we can for Kane...but his captaincy is going from strength to strength as well. He's got a real calm ease about the way he does things, obviously a meticulous planner, but the aggressiveness he took in the declaration I was thrilled about. That's not Kane's default position but he's carrying on the torch from McCullum in the way NZ plays. When it's 1-1, even when a drawn series is a decent effort, we'll seek 2-1. I admit I had doubts but why should I have doubted a guy who has made everything in his life a success. Hell, he's even a leading IPL/T20 player these days.Compare and contrast with NZ's last significant test win overseas:
2nd Investec Test, New Zealand tour of England at Leeds, May 29 - Jun 2 2015 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo
About half that side are still around, but what a difference 2-3 years makes. If that test epitomized the McCullum era, Kane has truly fashioned it in his image now.
Patel is our #1 spinner now. I know Santner showing signs in the England ODIs makes a case but he's our 5th or so choice spinner. CdG at 7 should be enough, given he was our top run scorer from memory last summer. It's just so preferable having a spinner who can win Test matches. Not so sure about Santa in Tests, now that Sommers and Patel have been moderately successful. Love em in white-ball formats though.
Agree with most of this post, although I'd sooner drop Latham than Raval.Patel is our #1 spinner now. It's a shame Greg Hay won't probably play Test cricket when he deserves a look-in, and Raval has shown us all he'll ever be capable of.
ok this is weird I went to check it out and all I saw was reasonable opinions giving credit to NZ. A little bit of whingeing about the performance and the captaincy and the batsmen but that's to be expectedBtw does PakPassion still exist? We need to do an invasion
