Hopefully there is some variety in the pitches dished up this summer. The green monsters vs Asian teams are becoming a bit stale imo. Would be great to see some of the pitches take spin and really deteriorate over time.

Also this was the first overseas test series since getting swept by India in 2016. And a grand total of 11 tests played in that time.

Sommerville for me based almost purely on his FC record in NZ conditions (not sure if he played a few in Oz). When was the last time we had a NZ FC spinner averaging 25?

Somerville has the two recent FC games and like his first 3 FC games as part of that record. I think he mostly has 2/60, etc, type returns in those games. The bulk of the wickets and all the five wicket hauls are in the shield. I don't think it would be outrageous if they wanted him to see him play a few more NZ FC games before they picked him in NZ, particularly since Patel has a more than handy record

Sounds a lot like a former NZ champion. The comparison to his peers of similar quality I mean. A great injustice.

Played fantastic cricket in this series by all accounts. Its a pity i couldn't follow this series too much but seems like KW totally bossed it. Nobody else seems to have come close to how good he was.
