*Official* Pakistan v New Zealand in the UAE 2018

Not Terrible
i went full circle with mitch m. rightly wrote him off as **** when he started his domestic career but after people started moaning he took jammy odi wickets i pointed out controlling the bounce of someone who hits the deck as hard as he does isn't easy.

2015 mitch m would make the current team comfortably, which shows how much depth we've lost. he, mills and henry were all left out in 2015 and they were a world class trio at the time.
You missed out the part where he gave you a massive spray to make you stop giving him ****.

i feel mildly bad about that. 18 year old phlegm was in no position to be getting ruthless on some random domestic bowler

Boult, Henry, Ferguson, Milne, Santner, Sodhi, Southee, Bennett, Kuggeleijn, Astle, etc. We've got plenty of depth.

McClenaghan also had a cool backstory, being a part time model, and running a Paleo business with Art Green from The Bachelor. Had a lot of injury problems before he improved his fitness and diet. If he played in the 90's he probably would have released an autobiography by now.

"Fractured pelvis, three hip surgeries, a snapped ankle ligament ... I could keep going if you want," he said.

So, what has prompted the turnaround in form?

"I'm injury-free, that's a big start and I'm really, really fit. I've done a lot of work with our trainer Greg Owen and Jordan Drinkall, his assistant. I've been doing a lot of CrossFit to try to get more explosive and really work on the power side of things."

As for the food options, McClenaghan has given up bread and pasta.

"The diet's been massive as well. No sugars, no breads, no nothing, really. Just good veges and broccoli, lots of broccoli. I've learned to love it."

Abbas out of the third test (and likely the South Africa tour?):

That's pretty galling for Pakistan if he doesn't make it to South Africa. Though in this series Hasan Ali has been far more of a menace thus far. A recall for Amir or Junaid maybe? Or does Mir Hamza slot back in?

EDIT: Forgot about the next big thing and potentially latest in a long line of kiwi tormenters, Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Do you know Shaheen only played 3 FC matches so if I have to selects side, I can not trust Shaheen so I would rather drops Bilal and includes Ashraf as wicket will more help to seamer
According to Curator

Yasir is enough as one specialist spinner because
Hafeez & Harris can bowl while Yasir takes rest anyway.

Maqsood ( pak A )should ideal but his chance will be in Southafrica if Amir not pick for the tour.Amir doing good in domestic.

So, we dropping anyone? CDG doesn't have a replacement so he's safe for me. Sodhi has been bad.. I'd be tempted to get Sommerville in there. Spins away from the lefty so offer something different. Do you bring Southee in? Southee in for Wagner if the pitch is more seam friendly than the last. Would have to rely on Sommerville to hold an end though the middle period with Patel. Surely he'd be better than Sodhi at building pressure.

It's a little difficult when none of us have seem much of Somerville's bowling and we're also not sure how to rate Blundell's batting in these conditions.

My best guess though is Somerville in for Sodhi and, if they think Blundell is batting well in the nets then Blundell, otherwise retain CDG.

Southee only comes in if one of Boult or Wagner are less than 100% fit.

Far more important than choosing from these probable-non-contributors though, is to win the toss and bat big.

Agreed, any lower order runs should be regarded as a bonus, the top 6 will have to show up throughout and ensure a decent first innings at the very least, unlike the last 2 tests.

Southee for Wagner? Memory of that first test is pretty short apparently. Hope being dropped fires up Southee like it has done in the past. Well done to KW for winning the toss: no pressure, just deliver us a rare away series ein now.
