Australian Domestic Season 2018/19

A strange old day that, thought the Redbacks were absolutely finished at 8/180odd, but that partnership between Winter and Worrall was quite something. Especially loved seeing Frank going after the short ball. Still immensely frustrating to see so many wickets fall to loose shots, apart from Richardson none of the WA bowlers were that impressive. Moody was indeed mediocre, and MMarsh took two wickets with seriously ordinary deliveries

Who got dropped off whom?
Renshaw off Hazlewood by Hughes.

Shortish ball across the body, Renshaw sort of prodded awkwardly at it and it looped through to Hughes so softly that someone with osteoporosis could have taken it but instead let it pop out of his hands.

Good to see our test match tail make 6 runs in total between them.
I kind of hate seeing this quartet playing non Tests. Whenever someone does poorly it makes me think that maybe someone from the other states would be a better fit.

I know this is a dangerous comment* against a QLD batting lineup who are very capable of crumbling, but Im a little concerned with our Aussie quicks ability to set up batsman and take wicket taking delivieries. Haze and Cummins dont look like they are bowling at their potential yet.

*watch Haze take 5-52 and Cummins 4-40 today.

The only bowlers who could potentially replace any of the 4 are Pattinson and Behrendorff, the former of which is just coming back from surgery and the latter isn't playing first class.

Franky has looked superb on his return to the team, but that wasn't wise cricket from Turner. Had an awkward prod then tried to leave at the last minute, looked strange.

Not sure how Tremain will ever convince you if he isnt already and what happened to your Bird love?

I still think Bird is a great bowler but he's a bit older and I think Behrendorff is capable of displacing the big 3 while Bird isn't.

Tremain shouldn't displace the big 3 but he'd be a great backup bowler.

As I said the only two bowlers that I think are good enough to possibly snatch a spot in the side ahead of Starc/Haze are Pattinson/ Behrendorff. There is an embarrassment of fast bowling riches in Australia at the moment that's largely been hidden due to excess injuries.

Stanlake could be good enough in a few years too. He's certainly got the physical attributes.

Jeez a game between the NSW and Vic sides playing this round would be an absolute fast bowling orgy for those real men who support the game in its purest form.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday actually, would essentially be Aus vs Aus A bowling arguably.

Pity the batting doesn't live up to that.

Best of the rest ?

Jhye Richardson
Jackson Bird
probably 1 of SAs medium-pacers

*Paris, Behrendorff, NCN, Stanlake are decent though but limited overs cricket or injury their main issues right now.

makes you wonder how Siddle, Doggett & Neser got call-ups for UAE

Ferguson's season is going down the toilet and fast. Wishing for the Worcestershire country side to come back.

Overpraising women on cricket commentary has been an excellent new meme in the last couple of years, but these boys on the SA stream take the cake.

"And we have a tweet in from uhh Mia-"
"Ohhhh"
"That's very nice, of course a lot of women getting into the Sheffield Shield"
"It's wonderful isn't it"

It's like talking about your toddler or dog every time.
