That was 100% bat first. The spike they've called pad was the bat hitting the pad, it was very clear on the side by side sync.

it probably did just clip the pad momentarily before the bat to make it technically out, but it still feels like a pretty unlucky lbw call when the ball mainly hit the middle of the bat

Nah this was an illusion. It looks that way from one angle with the snicko, but the other angle (at the same time, side by side, synced up) showed the ball was nowhere near his foot at that point there was a sound.

I thought it was out after the first couple of snicko replays too, but it wasn't.
