No worse than being owned by a country.
Being owned by a country is probably worse in fairness. The recent talk of Manchester United being bought by Saudi Arabia is depressing. There's a risk of countries using football clubs for soft power which would really take the fun out the game for some of us.

Got to love Karma at work.
If Karma worked in football then Huddersfield would be top and Leeds would be in the National league and, Laurent Depoitre would score and Adama Diakhaby would stop drifting wide and play more central. Would also love to see Hogg play more advance attacking roles and Lowe (sorry for lack of accent) get forward more with Christopher.

At least the Red Bull clubs have interesting coaches and recruitment strategies.
Yeah, I'm not questioning the football side of those clubs rather the unsightliness of clubs- which have their own heritage and culture- being named in such a way as to advertise. I imagine most of us would be gutted if it happened to our clubs. St James's Park nearly being renamed as the "Sports Direct Stadium" was bad enough to attract controversy. It would've been disastrous if it had been to rename the club to something relating to that company.

Being honest everyone calls and refers to our home stadium as the McAlpine stadium.

Leipzig were created by Red Bull just a few years back. They haven’t replaced any heritage or culture. Not sure about Salzburg.

They’re controversial in a German context because they go so badly against the spirit of fan ownership rules, which are supposed to prevent clubs being bought and run as propaganda outlets. But in terms of ownership and direction they’re more defensible than ~every major English team.

RB Salzburg literally bought the league spot of Austria Salzburg, one of the country's most storied clubs with a number of league titles and a UEFA cup final appearance changed the club colours and names and demoted Austria to the seventh division by federation decree. It was a heist.

Imagine if the Glazers had renamed Man Utd "Trafford Violets" and you'd have an analogy.

That's a fair point. I assumed they were all previously existing clubs which they bought, although Vimes's post on Salzburg conforms more to my assumption than Leipzig.

I'm pretty sure Leipzig bought a club as well.

Bit odd that Zaha spent the first 80 minutes getting kicked by Lichtsteiner when on the other side Xhaka was at LB with Auba on LW.
