So Vettori misses out on the top 100 I'm guessing? That's pretty crazy.
Maybe but remember that this list rewards performance more than career length. Vettori played for a long time and had a very middling record for much of that time.

I can confirm that Vettori just missed the cut. I don't think that's a spoiler at this stage.

Or Kumble or Anderson. But Ashwin more so. The others all have serious fans, but hardly anyone rates Ashwin around here, so everyone is gonna be grumpy.
I think DoG's evaluation tends to give extra credit to bowlers who have played a significant role in winning games for their teams, particularly games against quality opposition.
It should not come as a surprise that Kumble, Anderson and Ashwin would do well.

Subhash Gupte?
I`ll just post 101-200. Keep in mind that I have only completed a fraction of these. The remainder are incomplete, i.e. their averages and strike-rates have not been fully standardized and their PPIs, non-home and quality opposition stats are an estimate.

Career: 1985-2002
Wickets: 414
Gold Performances: 4
6/91 vs. West Indies at Faisalabad 1986 (15.17)
5/45 vs. New Zealand at Hamilton 1993 (16.56)
7/119 vs. New Zealand at Wellington 1994 (15.27)
5/63 vs. Australia at Karachi 1994 (15.24)
Silver Performances: 7
Bronze Performances:15

Overall Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 23.71 (23.62) 55.91 (54.65) 4.52 (rank 39)
50 Innings Peak Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings (1989-1994): 19.77 46.57 6.41 (rank 20)
Non-Home Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 24.36 57.91 4.59 (rank 32)
Quality Opposition Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 23.65 53.82 4.46 (rank 38)

The greatest left-arm fast bowler of all-time according to this analysis, Wasim Akram is a favorite amongst many 18-39 year-old fans when it comes to picking greatest XIs. This is probably due to his variety as both a southpaw and the fact that he could bowl six different deliveries in an over with the magic ball that makes it onto youtube highlights. But Wasim still averaged near 24 runs per wicket; great, but not quite enough to get near the top 10. He has a relatively low PPI (rank 61) against quality opposition, which suggests that he rarely bowled Pakistan to victory against the stronger teams of his era.

That's small justification for my refusal to pick Larwood in ATG England XI. I think it's time to give Anderson his deserved place in ATG England bowling lineup alongside Trueman, Barnes, Laker and Botham.

I reckon Wasim's low PPI has something to do with his high proportion of tail end wickets.

No.

Frankly, I'd still take Willis ahead of Anderson.
