Lol I had to go and check DoG's profile to make sure it was him and not a GI Joe multi doing the same as happened when Bradman was rated eight in an earlier countdown years ago.

I haven't read all of Migara's posts but it doesn't look like he is asking for ratings to be rigged for his favorite player. The reactions therefore are unnecessary. No need to ruin a perfectly enjoyable thread.

The above was designed for five seconds of shock and uncontrollable rage before the realization that it was a wind-up.

For real this time.

No.24

Courtney Walsh (West Indies) 819

7/37 vs. New Zealand at Wellington 1995 (17.85)
6/18 vs. New Zealand at Wellington 1995 (17,49)
5/39 vs. Australia at Bridgetown 1999 (17.14)
5/22 vs. Pakistan at Bridgetown 2000 (15.70)
Silver Performances: 9
Bronze Performances: 12

Overall Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 24.15 (24.45) 58.21 (57.84) 4.26 (rank 54)
50 Innings Peak Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings (1997-2000): 20.14 51.86 5.69 (rank 30)
Non-Home Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 24.67 57.38 4.14 (rank 39)
Quality Opposition Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 22.98 56.60 4.41 (rank 37)

You have to give huge plaudits to Courtney Walsh for his longevity. He doesn't rank in the top 30 for any of the quality criteria listed above but he kept going and going, eventually playing for 17 years and becoming the first bowler to take 500 test wickets. He didn't achieve a gold performance until 70 matches into his career, and in three of his final four years he was at his peak as a fast bowler. Quite remarkable.

It's weird because Murali will probably be #1 anyway.

I would have thought Walsh will end ahead of Andersen. Both have similar longevity and Walsh better overall average. But now that Walsh has appeared here I think Andersen should appear in next 2-3.

Miagra's supposed melt.
But he didn't recommend changes that will be favorable to Murali's rating even if those recommendations are bad. So why is Murali brought in this discussion? Or are you saying it's weird that he is not making recommendation that will help Murali?

No, it's that Migara pretty much only ever pops up when he has sand in his crack because he thinks someone is not giving sufficient kudos to a SL player, or to offer a SL player up in a positive light for discussion.

Which there's nothing wrong with tbf, but anyone who's been around here long enough knows that's his MO.

Alan Davidson (Australia) 820

Quality Points: 760
Career Points: 60

Career: 1953-1963
Wickets: 186
Gold Performances: 3
6/34 vs. South Africa at Johannesburg 1957 (15.12)
6/64 vs. England at Melbourne 1958 (15.39)
5/25 vs. England at Sydney 1963 (15.42)
Silver Performances: 6
Bronze Performances: 5

Overall Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 20.65 (20.53) 53.69 (62.30) 4.76 (rank 16)
50 Innings Peak Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings (1957-1961): 18.40 49.00 6.06 (rank 17)
Non-Home Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 20.65 58.03 4.00 (rank 23)
Quality Opposition Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 22.11 56.52 4.47 (rank 32)

Almost the opposite to Courtney Walsh, 'Davo' ranks high on quality points but ultimately didn't play enough test matches to gain a place in the top 20. However, he is without doubt one of the top two left-arm pacers in the history of test cricket. Mitchell Johnson in third place is 67 rating points behind him. Davidson also had two distinct phases in his career. Before 1957, he played in 12 test matches, basically as a bits and pieces youngster, taking 16 wickets at 34. Once he took over from Ray Lindwall the mantle of Australia's premier fast bowler, he played 32 more test matches over 6 years, taking 170 wickets at 19.26. Outstanding.

You're almost as obsessed with getting to the bottom of why people think Migara loves Murali as Migara is obsessed with Murali. It's harmless joking, now you're the one clogging up the thread.
