If the Amazon doc is anything to go by it mattered to the players a lot. I reckon it would hurt at the time, and hurt in the long run because you'd think about how memorable it would've been to win the title by absolutely demolishing United, but in the medium term wouldn't matter at all.

Yeah, I agree. IIRC, De Bruyne looked like he took it quite badly after the match.

Did it matter? They may have lost the game but they were nearly 20 points up at the time. What about the goals against Bournemouth, Southampton and Huddersfield, all in the dying moments, that secured 9 extra points last season. Without those points maybe the United game actually does matter.

In the end Uppercut is right. Mathematically, you can't score them all. He may not be a stone cold killer in front of goal but he's always in the right spot and that's all you can really ask.
*6 points. The 3 games you've cited were all draws turned into victories.

Arguably the misses against United fall into the "who the **** cares" category, that first half was 2-0 going on 5 or 6. Sterling was hardly to know what was going to happen in the 2nd half.

Mickey Mouse cup means nothing but getting back to back victories having only won one game all season before the weekend is something to be pleased about.

GIMH lot got trounced tonight.

We made ten changes, I know you guys made a load too. We weren’t very good though. Very sloppy. Still, some useful minutes for a few players.

Onto Friday, when revenge will taste delicious

BARNES OUT
Man, this weeks Monday pods really displayed the chasm between the Guardian and Times pods. Wilson and Bandini broke down the City-Liverpool game so well and the pair on the Game pod (Oli Kay and Gheerbrant) just spoke as jingoistic pundits with no real analysis. Marcotti has gotta get away from the Times, he's the only one with any real knowledge.

In fairness, I made a minor point about Raheem Sterling which I now regret...
I see not sure I have read that one, sorry.

The big problem people have with Sterling is what he does for City he never does or tends to not do much when on England duty. Pretty much could be said of most players but this maybe because they are played out of position or play style differences.

As a forum full of Arsenal and Utd fans, all this talk of the lack of atmosphere tonight does seem overdone...

Pretty clear already they've all but muted the pitch side mics, lest we hear some naughty words. Usually you get a nice hoof sound whenever it goes long.

I'd love to hear a Neil Warnock vs Sam Allardyce empty stadium match. Mike Bassett would be proud of the results. Three cheers for Ramirez?! We're England!
