When will nsw finally bite the bullet and install the rightful heir to Nev’s spot into the one day and a Shield sides? Lenton continues to disappoint while #Bertmentum waits in the wings.

Had a good time at the QLD vs ACT match today. It was a good advertisement for women's cricket. A tense match played on a beautiful ground. There was a few people there too. At least it felt like more than it was because small grounds are great for small crowds.

Sams has had a great start to the season. If he keeps going he might be an outside shot at an Aus spot later in the summer, because **** knows the current odi set up is rubbish.

Yeah Bert missed out vs ACT. Got an easy 60 odd yesterday though. With Nev out and Lenton 0-3 in the job so far, why wouldn’t he get a crack?

Uppal missed out yesterday in grade. Not sure how Sangha went.

Speaking of the NSW v ACT/CountryNSW game, I have heard both Pinson and Kershaw are supposed to be genuinely quick? Can anyone who knows more than me confirm or deny this?

This is the worst NSW team I have ever seen.

Would look better if Warner Smith Nevill Cummins Lyon Starc Hazlewood were there..

I wonder if we'll see some records broken in Sydney grade cricket for runs scored in a season. It's probably been a very long time - maybe not since the war that top level cricketers have been playing regularly at that level in their primes.

According to the Sydney grade website the run scoring record is 1527 runs in 23 innings with 6 hundreds and 4 50s (ave 95) by GM Lambert.

The first name on the list I recognise is Bob Simpson at 5 with 1398 runs in 15 innings with 6 hundreds and 7 50s (ave 116).

Top 3 batting averages in a season with 500 runs or more are Monty Noble (273), Victor Trumper (204) and Bradman (170). Boycott comes in at 4 with 1160 runs @165 in 76/77.

Interestingly Bertus (Burgey's love child) scored his first 1st grade ton when he was two days younger than Bradman.

Trumper still holds two of the top 3 places for "most 6s in an innings" in Sydney grade, with 22 6s in his 335 in 1902/03 and 15 in his 189* in 1904/05.

Interestingly the guy who holds the record for the second most is a guy by the name of Cotter who hit 16 6s in his score of 152 in 1904/05.

It seems like the first decade of last century was a good time for 6 hitting.

Ahh Grant Lambert, I remember him. Was an absolute beast in Sydney grade cricket but never hit the same heights at FC level. Made the odd handy contribution here and there with bat and ball but couldn't do it on a consistent basis

Yeah Lambo also wasn't picked all that often, but you wouldn't say he was particularly convincing when he got the call up. Not enough to cement a spot when everyone was around anyway. He was a pretty rare beast though - could crank it up to 140 and opened the bowling for Fairfiled with Dougeh while also opening the batting or going in at three.

Bloke was a serious cricketer.

Look, a conversation about 2000s Sydney Grade runscoring isn't complete without a reference to the world's greatest 2nd XI batsman of all time - Greg Mail.

Sams for the no 8 position?60.30.56..
If he can develop into a Nathan Bracken-like bowler (or even be half as good as Bracken was tbh) he could be a serious ODI contender for Aus. Probably fill the role that Faulkner fell out of.
