Is there anything more obnoxious than Hasan Ali's celebration? Also what is so special about him. Thought Shaheen and Usman seemed much better.

Is generally a good strike bowler, not so this tournament.

Yeah, I hate his celebration style too, awful

The Afghanistan strategy of saving Rashid Khan until the last main bowler most of the time is an interesting one, and I wonder if they'll do it again today.

I imagine it works so well against lesser teams because the aim is always to build the innings towards a respectable score like 250 rather than something exceptional like 300+. Hence the convention of uping the pace towards the end of the innings is almost thwarted by the fact that you have to assuredly face the most skilled overs of the innings at the end and a lot of them. It must also apply significant pressure on the chase especially, knowing that there are still a lot of overs left to come from someone with an economy less than 4.

I wonder if Pakistan might be better off trying to be aggressive against the rest of the Afghan attack to try and force Rashid to bowl early. Certainly an Afghanistan team with Rashid still to bowl a lot of overs at the death, is in a much better position than one where he's bowled out by the middle overs; even if he ends up with the figures that he normally produces.

Asghar is a great captain. He uses his bowlers excellently. He tries to maximize them for the benefit of the team, rather than stat padding Rashid. Rashid has monster stats considering how often he bowls at the death. It's amazing he doesn't get the treatment more often from the opposing batters at the back end of the innings. Afghanistan have a good varied attack. They have several good bowlers. We shouldn't forget that either. Pakistan need to get a flier in the first 15 to have a strong chance.

no, not even 4 rpo by the 20th over mark. Rashid Khan still has to bowl his full quota. it is just going to get harder

Yeah interesting observation.

It also helps that teams are rarely able to get off to a flier against Afghanistan given Mujeeb's quality opening spells.

I suppose keeping the runs down at the start and finish, while bowling weaker bowlers when the opposition is consolidating instead of looking to attack has been a strategy used by many teams, but these two make it seem flawless.

Yes they should launch a 2-3 over attack on the bowlers. 3 10-run overs will make it easier for Shoaib even if he has to come soon after.

The way Rayudu hung around after clearly nicking it and knowing DRS will call it out shows he is playing to retain his spot in the team IMO. His SR in last 2 games also indicates that.
