carried for mine, though the soft signal process is rather dubious as it is just about always solely influenced by the fielder reaction, rather than what the umpire does or doesn't see.

all a batsman has to do is stand there and it will be referred.

Root back at 4. Doesn;t really make a difference in practical terms since he's out there as early as ever but psychologically it matters to him I suppose. If he does get runs here, everyone will scream for him to stay at 4.

Root has been rubbish at three, and dislikes batting there, even though he often bats there for Yorkshire (which makes no sense whatsoever but regardless!).
