This is definitely happening. Most voted him top 3 and there were a bunch of pisstake anti Warne/Murali votes
Nah there were much more anti-Warne votes than any other. Murali isnt even going to be challenged. Thread should be renamed to "spinner who was hated by slightly less people on cricket web"

Next time can some of you not be ****s and **** the tally with **** lists though.

On second thought, I did place Herath too high up.

The funny thing is that a none here can go and figure out who will actually win based on the public votes.

The public would vote Warne - Indians love Warne too - and Murali would probably be second. But Kumble and Harbhajan might be 3rd and 4th and guys like O'Reilly, Grimmet and Laker would probably be overlooked

One unusual record held by Grimmett - he's the only player to concede more than 1000 runs in a series (1024, 1928-9 Ashes), though Arthur Mailey (999, 1924-5) and Doug Wright (990, 1946-7) both came close.

I'd be impressed if anyone could name (without looking it up) the only pace bowler to concede 900 runs in a series.

I'm guessing it will be some English pace bowler from the 80s or 90s. They played 6-match series against Australia and WI and were pretty poor.

Probably some bowler from an otherwise weak bowling attack in a long, historically high scoring series. Maybe one of the Pakistani pacers against WI in the late 50s when Sobers got the world record? A lot of batsmen piled on the runs in that series. Hanif got his triple in the same series too

Bear in mind that the bowler has to keep his place in the side for the whole series (or at least most of it), and do a lot of the bowling. Botham (855, 1985 Ashes) got pretty close but no other 80s/90s England pace bowler did.

Lillee's also a good guess - he conceded 870 in the 1981 Ashes.

Brett Lee / Kapil Dev / McDermott?
