*Official* India Tour of England 2018

International Captain
About time our batsmen stood up to be counted in a big way. 250 is emphatically *not* a big score on this wicket. Curran played well and all, but we can't be using him as an excuse if things go south from here. This is easily a 350 at least pitch.

And Broad is a lapsed allrounder, or more to the point, once an all-rounder of promise whose batting collapsed whilst his bowling escalated. Broad probably still is a bit of an allrounder at county level.

Yeah, I would agree that this appears to be a par 350 kind of pitch.
But for that, I suppose one has to bat out the first 35 overs or so without too much damage; after that batting seems to get easier.
I'm not sure this is a 350 @par pitch, 350 sounds above par to me. The ball is swinging & seaming, like Edgbaston, perhaps more so than any other game except Lords. If England bowl as well as they can, in these conditions, 350 will be very hard to get.

If I'm reading the stats right, this is the first time since late 2011 that Ishant Sharma's Test bowling average after a completed innings has been sub-35.

Dukes ball and two fragile batting lineups means there will certainly be a quick result, it will probably be over early on day 4 TBH. Can see another close see-sawing match like Edgbaston.

Probably one of the most improved bowlers in the world considering how truly terrible he used to be.
There is a cricinfo article today about the Indian pacers as a fearsome quartet and people say that he is the leader of that pack. That's a huge improvement from being considered among the worst bowlers in history. Kudos to him.

He was very good yesterday; kept it really tight and held the Indian bowling together. Definite nonATVG performance, I would say.

That was probably when he had that good tour of the WI in 2011, which was when the "Is Ishant Sharma as good as Stuart Broad" threads started popping up.

Even Praveen Kumar did well in that WI series.
