And more importantly, to take it to the fifth day.Never thought we'd make 300, so fair play I guess.
Nor that. Come on freak storm. And more importantly, to take it to the fifth day.
He loses steam very quickly, was good at Edgbaston, ordinary at Lords & same here. Can't play him just on the hope that he'll be fit & more effective in the next 2 games. We need more from Ashwin in these kinds of situations. I guess he has the excuse that he wasn't fully fit. But I didn't see him bowling with any proper plan even to the tailenders, too much funky stuff.
Dropping Ashwin is an excellent idea, imoHe loses steam very quickly, was good at Edgbaston, ordinary at Lords & same here. Can't play him just on the hope that he'll be fit & more effective in the next 2 games.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan. It’s more his selection that’s pointless. Either make him keep or bat him higher. That is incredibly harsh. He faced some pretty good bowling there, it wasn't entirely pressure-free. He'll be constantly under pressure anyway because of his place in the team.
Also hit a good fifty against Pakistan in a pressured situation so clearly he can do it.
We could play a bowling line up of Ashwin/Jadeja/Kuldeep/Bumrah/Bhuvi with Bhuvi having the worst average (26.09).With Hardik getting his average below 30 with the ball, we have 4 bowlers averaging under 30 in this test (small sample size for all except Ashwin but whatever.) Is that a first in India test history?
(If Bhuvi was playing for Ishant - we would have 5 )
