Well it was in England....
Don't get me wrong, Dhawan sucks, especially in these conditions. But when the bloke batting #3 is an opener, the first reserve batsman is a #3 who averages 50 in Test cricket and there's yet another good reserve batsman in the squad beyond him, talking about making the 20 year old reserve wicket keeper who doesn't open domestically and is known for being super aggressive open in England is pretty much just madness. All the reasons Dhawan sucks as an opener in these conditions would apply doubly to Pant as an opener in these conditions, and the number on his birth certificate won't get extra runs added to his total.

Hardik's got 4-5 of these straight half volleys and hasn't timed a single one. He hasn't gotten frustrated so far though which is pleasantly surprising.
