The problem is you have a few too many of your big players in this category. Moses, Hayne and Norman are all, uh momentum based (to put it nicely). If you've got a team full of Gutho's who are putting in 150% you can good mileage out of blokes like that, but in a season where you get smashed by injuries and a poor run of form you've got a massive amount of your cap going towards passengers.
Yeah I never want to read too much into memes like that but they looked very much like a bunch of blokes who were still on holiday in that first half.
Mmh, I mean if the Cowboys could fluke their way to the GF with one good player who knows what could happen. Sharks look strong, Brisbane are very hot or lukewarm depending on the taste of the wind and how much Milford and Nikorima are inhaling it. Panthers apparently could become the GOAT side if only Gus could find a way to murder Anthony Griffin.
Difference with the Cows last year was that they at no point looked like a top 2 team throughout the year and Melbourne were an absolute juggernaught that would have been tough to stop even against a team that had done more than just caught fire at the right time. This year you could argue that at least 6 of the top 8 have been among the top two sides in the comp at some point. It's ebbed and flowed around form, key losses in personnel, Origin, rule changes and bit of luck here and there. The actual quality of the teams is really close.
