*Official* Bangladesh in the West Indies 2018

The more I see of this Jason Holder, the more I like this guy.
Batting at 30.87, bowling at 30.92, he is very nearly now in the positive mark which has long been a rough and ready standard for allrounders.

Still think he could be more of a bowler, overseas anyway, with some more pace on the ball.

But his batting has been impressive for a long time.

Jason Holder's contribution to West Indies cricket, as a captain, is what is most heart warming.
Making him the captain at very young age is the most sagacious thing that the West Indies board has done in a decade or so.

Well his talent was undeniable and they liked where he was at in his approach to cricket.

But when he first toured NZ, many pundits were excited about his height and his bowling.

But he just seemed to get slower and slower since that series, without doing much with the ball.

(He doe have a lot more up his sleeve than he has been bowling at for a long time now).

I understand in this home series he has found some swing. A lot of swing in a past test, and that is great.

Because the bowling ability is there, but bowling throwdowns at 120km/h without nibble or swing is not great a proposition for a bowler to have much success with.

Yep, nice to see good guys like Holder do well. Has his captaincy improved? He's been spectacularly bad whenever I watch WI play.

He is not a terrible captain on the field.

What I was referring to was his ability to imbue his team with a feeling of pride and honour in representing the West Indies in cricket.
Much like the lesser AB for Australia, he took over at a time when West Indies cricket was at its lowest point, held to ransom by a bunch of mercenaries.

Worst series. This is like massive steps back on all the progress they've made otherwise.
Agreed. If they can't even compete with lowly wi overseas, doesn't bode well for them in other countries. Still think Bangladesh is still pretty formidable at home vs any team not named India.

Tbh imo holder doesn't have to be particularly fast to be effective. He could and should pull a McGrath or older Ambrose and pull consistently on that length of uncertainty. Minor variations wouldn't hurt either. But keep a good line and length and he'll be fine.

He's slower than McGrath.

He's slower than Philander even .

Afridi bowled quicker googlies :p

He is the stock bowler; he offers a degree of control to the West Indies.
Their other quick bowlers can become collectively wayward at any point in time; as we saw towards the end of the Sri Lankan chase in the second test.

Looking at how Bangladesh have batted so far in this tour, WI could probably declare here and still win at a canter TBF.

What are the odds for a WI win? Seems like a good time to throw plenty on them if Bangladesh keep taking wickets.

Bangladesh in 3 completed innings so far have scored 336 runs - 18 short of West Indies first innings score in this test.

4 wickets for 51 runs for Abu Jayed so far. One of the greatest fast bowling performances in a Test match for Bangladesh.

Pitch starting to do all sorts. Still, our batting is still clearly dreadful.

Back to yesterday though, what an exciting debut for Keemo Paul. Beautiful swing bowling and at a nippier pace than expected (140kph). Exciting!!!

Good grief wi . Is it too much to ask to exercise some patience. There r 3 days left. Hope this is the last we see of Devon and Powell. But hope and chase shouldn't feel secure either. Bowling prospects look promising though; kemar and shannon won't be around forever.

Awful batting in the second innings. This is becoming a bit of a problem. Chase and Hope are on notice surely? It has been ages since either of them played a decent innings.

Powell and Smith need to go I agree. They are adding nothing and have been given so many chances.
