*Official* India Tour of England 2018

Yeah, Bumrah may not be effective in test matches in England; in SA, he got designer pitches which favoured his style of bowling.

Think India are going to pick two pace bowlers based on the pitches. They don't have a fixed line up anymore. Seems incredible given the situation 3 years back and it's quite a thing to have the services of bowlers who are quite distinct as their 5 pacers are.

Pandya
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Ishant
Shami

Makes the most sense to me. Kuldeep for Ashwin is tempting.

Kuldeep and Yadav are more likely to bowl a match-winning spell than Ishant or Ashwin, but they're also more likely to have a 20-0-95-0 kind of day and ruin everything.

Shami is already kinda hot and cold and Pandya is still raw. It's tough.

Tough call between Umesh and Shami too.

Would drop Pujara and make Rahul bat at 3 if he fails in the first test.

My XI:

If Poo fails:

Dhawan
Vijay
Rahul
Kohli
Rahane
Karthik/Saha
Pandya
Kuldeep/Ash/Jadeja
Bhuvi
Shami/Umesh
Ishant

Shri

Mr. Glass
If Pandya flukes some swing and gets it right briefly and wins us a match, he'll be around the setup for at least 5 years even if he does nothing after that.

Poor old Pujara has been slogging his ass off in County Cricket for the last two months, and his head will be first on the chopping block. :(

He's been embarrassing. Yorkshire can't drop him because he's a pro or else he'd be playing 2nds.

I love the man but he's got big question marks on his non SC batting atm.

Is there any way we can watch his batting and dismissals in the CC so far, so that we can figure out what's happening?

He was a dopey selection at best, Umesh was & is our best away swing bowler of the last half decade, at least. Yet hasn't played a game in SA, Eng or NZ. Pretty sure what Dhoni's been smoking has been picked up by Kohli & Shastri as well. He showed yet again, albeit against Ireland, that you need outswing bowlers in swinging conditions, that's why you have them slips! Bumrah was a stupid choice & picking him in 3 tests was even worse! We did't lose in SA just because we played Sharma over Rahane, our bowling attack was also very wrong! Did I mention Kuldeep ~ the guy should be a regular in tests as well 8-)

He's always been suspect against pace & swing hence got sacked in Aus last time, the problem is without IPL & LO games under his belt his shot making ability, especially against fast bowling, has regressed alarmingly. I remember that painfully slow innings against Aus in Ranchi very well, even after being set there was no initiative taken by him, SoK just blocked his scoring areas with over the wicket bowling & he simply shut shop!

Ouch, just found out that India beat Ireland by 143 runs in a T20 yesterday.

Maybe we should have played Scotland instead, Ireland are really poor in limited overs right now, aren't they?

0:30 bowled again no shot offered

Seems at this point he's still struggling with pitched up deliveries on the stumps. I do think it's limited scoring options that allow bowlers to get closer and closer to the stumps to him without much risk of him tucking them away for runs on the legside or down the ground but it's obviously hard to tell from highlights.
