Not getting carried away as even Gimps lot would beat Panama. Our defence looks a worry once we meet a decent team.

Going to be incredible when we get 48 sides in this.

Credit to England though, been pretty ruthless.
Be crazy letting more crap teams in. Basically all the South American sides and virtually all of Europe would beat Panama.

Apart from Wales, they drew 1-1 last year at home against them.

Panama must surely be better than they have given themselves credit for today. Not by much I shouldn't have thought, but at least a little.

Yeah, they were disgusting in the first half. As were Tunisia in the first half against Belgium yesterday. For me, that's one of the biggest arguments against expanding the tournament, as we'll only get more teams who play like that to try and frustrate superior opponents.
32 is pushing it in terms of quality IMO.

If the World Cup was expanded to all 200 odd countries Scotland still would find a way in not qualifying.

A lot of presumptuous assertions in the media that England should take a dive against Belgium to avoid Brazil and Germany's half of the draw. Truth is it's unlikely to be an issue as I thought England looked pretty average until Panama leaked that 1st penalty and basically lost the plot thereafter. Also a game against Colombia in the R16 (probably the most likely opponent if England finish runners-up) is not something that I would fancy at all if I were an England supporter.

This feels very weird, but I’m sort of finding the people being sceptical about England more delusional than England fans. The Irish journalists are desperately talking themselves out of admitting that England look like one of the better teams around, with a very favourable draw in a weak field. Just imagining the reaction if an England fan went with a ‘They didn’t look that impressive until they suddenly scored 5 goals in the first half’ line about their next opponents.

If England end up playing Colombia they are done.
Na, we are going to win it because we beat a thug pub team 6-1 don't you know.

The hype we wanted to avoid has finally started and press are building them up to slaughter them when we lose.
