Hoping to see Burns pushing again for a test spot today. 12 not out so far and career average now 43.29. If can get that up to 45 then he will have to be picked.

Relaated to those last two points -

Simon Hughes in the Cricketer magazine last month said that he was sure that Pope had the quality for international cricket - and that Cook and Anderson were the only two in the last two decades that he has thought similar about.

It may be true but it will be interesting to see if England fast track him given what has happened to Hameed and Duckett.

On an unrelated note losing to Worcestershire is something you don't want to be doing in div 1 if you plan to stay up.

Durham are dreary in the first two innings at Arundel which means they'll comeback, producing something incredible on days 3 and 4 and win one of the greatest matches ever.

I think Lanky and Worcs might be the two teams getting relegated to be honest (which would be hysterically comic for Jennings).

Would Durham get promoted, with their hilarious strategy of playing utter crap, getting the opposition to become over-confident, and then giving them the sucker punch?

I think Lancs need to get Hameed back into second eleven/club cricket; wait two years and see what the outcome is. Playing him in the first team is doing him no favours.

Regarding Carberry - Generally if an established pro like Carberry hasn't been a club captain by mid 30s it does tend to suggest a lack of captaincy skills, so I don't think it's entirely surprising what has happened to him at leicestershire - especially been dumped into a new setup with a new group of players. Also he hasn't exactly been scoring lots of runs either.

Is Daryl Mitchell one of the best English players in modern era not to win a Test cap? Some of the **** that has been picked ahead of him...

I'm not saying he necessarily should have been picked, the Div 2 for most of his career thing hurts but he is a very very solid pro.

12k runs at 41 with 33 tons and that average was higher in his pomp.

Why do Warks keep trying to make Holden an opener? He's a middle order player if ever I saw one.

Surrey are top, Hants are in the one-day final and Durham (to quote the Americans) suck ass. It is as if there is someone up there who hates me.
