I hope 7 actually streams it unlike the AFL, which for some reason they always play RBT or some crap in place of it unless the Grand Final is on.

Surely the cricket will be the number 1 sport on 7 when it's on. They want to be promoting their new show instead of promoting the sport they lost to 9.

The hysterical reaction to the ABC losing the cricket rights in some sections of social media was something else; it was as if Cricket Australia announced that ticket prices were going up next summer by 1000% judging by the reaction in some quarters.

I get that the ABC is intractably linked with cricket for generations and has done a lot of good in its coverage over the years. But imo its been a shadow of itself for 10-15 years and was getting by on reputation and the fact that it had a monopoly on the radio market.

The opening up of the radio rights earlier this decade has been long overdue and I’d certainly take Macquarie’s coverage over the ABC’s any day of the week.

It's because the digital rights are separate -- Seven probably doesn't have them for the AFL if they're doing that. I'm 99% Foxtel snapped up all the digital rights for the cricket too.

Yeah you're right, apparently CA live has it too for some reason despite the fact if a match is airing on a network you gotta get through the Fox paywall anyway. Suddenly getting a Foxtel subscription seems alluring and necessary.

If you're just interested in the digital rivering and you have friends/family with Foxtel who aren't using those services on many devices (or at all), you could possibly hit them up for their username and password. You get five devices per subscription on Foxtel Go. It only streams at 480p and it locks you out of casting it to a TV unless you have a Windows device physically connected to one, but it looks mostly fine on a phone or tablet.

Yeah but they don’t serve the regional areas as well as abc does

Alex Gregory is a common name and he has ended up in the Victorian domestic Futures' squad. The Redbacks did win the Futures last season.
Some other known names Blake Thompson,Harry Smith,Tom Rogers,Jackson Koop,Mathew Fota,Liam Bowe and Ejaaz Alivi.

Wouldn't surprise me if Alex Gregory did make the move. He was very highly rated coming through age group cricket but seems to have plateaued somewhat. Contrast that to Cameron Valente, he was clearly not as good as Gregory at u19 level, but has really kicked on much more since, especially with the bat.

"all JLT Cup and Shield fixtures to be streamed live on cricket.com.au and the CA Live App" --> Well that's good news at least. Or is it going to be that whole "require foxtel pass" thing?

"Five full rounds of Sheffield Shield matches scheduled prior to the summer’s opening Test against India" --> Huge. At least half the Test spots would be up for grabs based on Shield performances you'd think.

JLT cup still the same ****ty format but least no CA XI to waste time

the funniest thing about the OD changes is that all of the seasons, I would have thought the season before the OD WC is when you want an extra team and extra players (on the provision, of course, that it was a genuine 7th XI and not the GChappel Invitational XI)
