There seems to be no middle ground on here with almost all posters. People seem to either think a player is an all time great or dreadful. Buttler is one of England’s best ever Odi players and has an enormous SR. Bairstow is in the mix too for an ATG odi team, his stats can’t be hidden from .It's Buttler, fcs. You're making it seem as if he's in charge of drinks.

Let him get nearer the end of his career first. He doesn't even have 2000 runs. Let him get 6, 7, 8k.

Because he's a top order batsman with no pedigree of performance down low.
Some members are not fond of such liberties being taken with such team lists.
Ironically because I like your team, my suggested solution would be to put Shakib down in the tail at 9 or even 11 and state he is for rearguard purposes only.
I think your team is very good, it has a lot of power hitting that are or were quality batsmen, lots of deep batting, it has 5 frontline bowlers, including a quality spinner and 4 quality seamers, plus Symonds and Tendulkar (even Viv could roll the arm over). It just seems like a complete XI to me.
But the sore thumb is Shakib batting at 7. So I'd just put him in the tail. Just let it rain 6's first.

Yeh look it's all situational dependant. He wouldn't go in before anyone in the top five but if we managed a collapse he's handy to steady things. Mostly picked him because he's the spinner with best batting skills afaik.
With Cairns, Dev and Symonds all batting around him he's not going to slow anything up anyway, his SR is not that of a slouch.
