Good leaderboard at the Memorial! Woods is playing well but lacking that edge, the inevitability that he will make a charge and be the man to beat come Sunday afternoon...missing 3 or 5 footers never really happened to peak Tiger when he was in contention...now you can almost count on it...

yeah a lot of big names likely to miss the cut - tiger, phil, rory, spieth, day...looks like a typical u.s open so far...

Always find it ridiculous when organisers feel need to trick courses up

This is beyond a farce

Had a few shekels on Rose midway through first round. Only at 8-1 but given me a run for my money.

As for Leftie, should have been disqualified. Think anyone else would have been.

i don't think the course overall was tricked up though...the pin positions were terrible yesterday because the usga didn't account for the wind effect...the combination of strong winds and really tough pin positions rendered it close to unplayable...they have a lot of middle-of-the-green holes on sunday, trying to compensate...

Terrible news concerning Jarrod Lyle

By all accounts a very decent man
Yep. Heartbreaking news to say the least.

Firestone this week. Tiger has to be favourite given his record. This is his record at Firestone btw:

Starts: 9
Wins: 7
Worst finish: 4th
Average finish: 1.4
Rounds: 36
Par or better: 31
Scoring average: 67.4
Low score: 61
To par: -92

Not too shabby. Also interesting to note he's now ranked inside the Top 10 in the Sagarin World Rankings which looks at performances vs the field (he's currently 8th). The win is on the way.
