I voted for Botham in this, then realized the question was who's the better allrounder for me.

I'd much rather bowl to and face Al Hacksan than Botham, so I should have voted the other way. Botham also the better chef.

I'd much rather face Shakib too. Rather be humiliated by an ATVG spinner than face a fat bloke hurling it down at 130 clicks.

Rather bowl to Botham tho. Englishmen can't play spin.

As for Botham being the better chef - evidence?

Imagine ***** facing 130kph bowling. I'd pay to watch it.
Imagine him bowling his finger spin to Botham. After the 43rd six in a row he'll finally get him out caught at the boundary off a long hop and claim he set it up with cunning flight and guile.

What's unsurprising about it?

Try to explain yourself more clearly please. I understand English isn't your first language but these two word posts arent a sufficient justification for your stance
They're saying you ***ually admire Burgey bending over.

JediBrah is saying it is no surprise you like men in general (or Burgey) - he is ambiguous as to whom in particular.

Burgey is going one step further and saying it is no surprise that you find him in particular attractive bending over because humans often find him attractive.

It is pretty clear, unless JediBrah means in general or specifically Burgey - which may be your question, if so, ask it directly.

*aren't, or preferably "are not".

Also the "a" is superfluous. Simply "are not sufficient justification" would suffice, thank you.

You were so close :)

'Aren't' is obviously preferable to 'Are Not'.

How is writing "are not" simpler than writing "aren't"?

I use plain English writing in my daily job. Never in my 25 years as an internet shitposter have I seen anyone prefer to use 'are not'

Not content with imparting his wisdom on the ATG XI Thread despite not knowing who Les Ames is, TJB now seeks to impart his literary knowledge upon us.

Maybe in the slums of Hong Kong aren't is preferable, but here in the Upper Western suburbs of Melbourne we are a tad more discerning

Contractions are a plague in writing, no matter how we speak. Use 'it is' in writing always instead of 'it's'. 'Its' is of course correct.

I would not even utter "are not" instead of "aren't".

JediBrah wins this point. Your serve still *****.

"Are not" conveys a certain strength of message which "aren't" doesn't IMHO.

So if I want to really emphasize a point which I know is objectively true, such as "All of the countries ***** supports at cricket are not very good", I would not use the contraction. Same with "is not" as opposed to "isn't'. It's a question of gravitas in conveying a sacred truth, such as "***** is not very intelligent". Everyone knows it's true, but on the off chance someone wants to challenge it, you do not use the contracted form in your rebuttal.
