Tye is one of the most exciting global developments on limited overs talent bowling going around at the moment in my opinion. He has been shooting the lights out of everything he has done from last summer, 2018's light is doing him even more favours. He continued his brilliance with a damn fine IPL, after performing very well in a losing team against England last summer. There are times when watching a short-handed team play can be interesting as you get a look at some players of the future
This is not one of those times for me
Guys like Tye, Neser, Head, Kane Richardson and even Paine are solid pros but that's about it
IMO, it's like putting a band-aid on a broken leg - won't achieve much
I'd much prefer to go full experimental and play guys with real long term potential like Carey, Renshaw, Patterson, Jhye Richardson, Tremain, Doran, etc as chances are that we'll be beaten anyway

I rate him and his knuckle balls.
Woke up, saw the batting lineup and was surprised it was even remotely closeIts a tough watch seeing this type of cricket in SD.
What a terrible XI too, Paine shouldnt be playing, nor S Marsh (who prob will make runs in 1 of the games).
You ever seen him bowl? That doesn't describe him at all. He's a variation machine and should be in the Aus Limited Overs team even at full strength.Meh
31yo medium fast who doesnt move the ball around much is nothing to get excited about
tbf McKay was exactly that and arguably less, but still did a pretty good job of it (I realise they are two vastly different bowlers). Probably the best Aussie bowler this decade after Starc and Haze. I don't think Tye is that exciting but he can cut it at this level imo.Meh

This is why it's so frustrating that they left out Short. He's one of the only genuinely talented players in the squad. Playing Head and Marsh (not to mention 5 bowlers as well) ahead of him was lame af.There are times when watching a short-handed team play can be interesting as you get a look at some players of the future

Actually, his floating knuckle balls often swing.Meh

Yeah forgot to add Short in at 6.They'll probably want 11 players too
Short opening and Head down the order would be better, if we have to play Head (which I'd rather not)Yeah forgot to add Short in at 6.

Oh Tye could very much be in Australia's starting XI for the World Cup. He only has to maintain form or not slide too badly, not get better.I've seen him bowl
Very good t20 bowler and handy backup in 50 over stuff
My point was that if we want to build for the future, there are a number of more talented options than some of the guys picked in this squad
Doesn't mean they are better now necessarily
Yeah third/fourth seamer slot is up for grabs. Something tells me it'll be Stanlake and Cummins but with the injury history of the quicks he could very well start.Oh Tye could very much be in Australia's starting XI for the World Cup. He only has to maintain form or slide too badly, not get better.
He has been an absolute gun in 2018.
I just don't think the Aussie selectors will ignore Tye as one of the best death options in the world if he maintains it. They gave him a chance bowling with Starc, Cummins, and Haze at home this summer and he took it. Was the most impressive Aussie bowler bar none for all series, and only bar 1 of his 4 games. Then after the T20 and IPL - it seemed far less like any fluke.Yeah third/fourth seamer slot is up for grabs. The world. Not selecting Tye for this series with the other best 5-6 bowlers all injured would have been insane. He's class. You want to trial young guys who are potentials for the future? That's Stanlake, and Jhye Richardson. You can't just leave one of the most exciting bowlers in the country because he's 31.
Of course you got excited by BumrahThe world.
The last time I felt this way about an exciting fresh seamer on the global scene limited overs bowler it was Bumrah.
