Great first over by Stanlake.

But this Neser is just gentle military medium.

Phew, got there despite sticking pretty firmly to the textbook of how to mess up a small chase. Credit to Willey at the end there, never really done it with the bat for England but he kept his head today. Cricinfo also informs me that Stuart Broad was commentating - what was he like?

No Adders, I don't want to kill this forum. I want to make it thrive.
I'll tell you one way it would thrive - if you ****ed off and didn't come back.

Since you've just stated that you want to make it thrive, I recommend that is what you do.

**** I hope this isn't the team Aus play in the actual ODIs. Paine at 6 and Agar at 7? Maxwell at 4? they are at least a batsman short
And it was. So ****ing dumb. I know they don't exactly have the cream of the crop to select from but at least put forward the best team you can.

You don't need 5 specialist bowlers ffs when you've got Stoinis and Maxwell batting in the top order. Short better play ahead of one of the bowlers next game.

Surprising amount of interest in the first match of this series seeing 20 pages* of new posts overnight. Oh wait, 15 pages of bickering and sniping and your face before the match even started followed by five pages that occasionally mentioned the cricket . Sad I missed it.

* not 40-page master-race, you can f off

I don't think Australia need wholesale changes before the next match. This is my XI:

Finch (c)
Head (7)
Marsh
Stoinis (6)
Maxwell (5)
Agar (4)
Carey (wk) (vc)
Tye (3)
Richardson (2)
Stanlake (1)

There are enough part timers yup get through the 10 overs and Agar should be expected to get through most of 10 as the 4th bowler.

Paine is not a modern ODI keeper. Finch can captain. Head and Marsh are warming the bench until our two batsmen return.

Best thing out of this match was Darren Lehmann of all people getting morally outraged at some lame sandpaper jokes outside the ground.

Some lame Aus journo said on twitter that it was "so hard" to walk through the sandpaper outside the ground.

Classic, so brave.

They won’t drop the skipper.
They'll probably want 11 players too

There are times when watching a short-handed team play can be interesting as you get a look at some players of the future

This is not one of those times for me

Guys like Tye, Neser, Head, Kane Richardson and even Paine are solid pros but that's about it

IMO, it's like putting a band-aid on a broken leg - won't achieve much

I'd much prefer to go full experimental and play guys with real long term potential like Carey, Renshaw, Patterson, Jhye Richardson, Tremain, Doran, etc as chances are that we'll be beaten anyway
