I did it because I found the use of the word artless.
Well, I am not here to impress with lexicon. I'd rather be understood. Perhapos you found Graham Greene's philosophy of using simple English artless too.

Are you writing to impress people with your lexicon, or to successfully convey your message?

How is writing "acuteness" simpler than writing "acuity"?

I use plain English writing every day in my job. I dumb it down even more when I post on here, because you have to play to your audience.

Sometimes I struggle to believe most of us here are grown men
Do you have any evidence to support this proposition?

And with that I'm heading home for the evening.

Good night, and good luck.

Particularly to Australia tonight, as our plucky underdogs go toe-to-toe with the number one ranked side in this heavily anticipated free-for-all.

Maybe for you acuity is no simpler than acuteness.

But trust me - for the masses aware of the word stem of acute, "acuteness" is far simpler to identify as against "acuity". I know where you're coming from with your job, but your vocabulary of English is stronger than the many in this instance for word stems of "acute".

The goal is not to have people drowned in dictionaries for art's sake. All a writer really needs to be skillful as an artist imo is a strong and wide array of verbs (better if simply identifiable), and not nouns. Verbs matter more than nouns.

The goal is to convey your point with alacrity.

Table doesn't have any ramen on it. There's pasta currently cooking, will that do?

Not content with cutting and pasting the UCPR to prove a nonexistent legal procedure point to a lawyer who’s been at it 25 years, Mr Miyagi is now seeking to impart his literary knowledge upon us.

And to his credit, it will probably be more interesting than this ODI series.

My literary knowledge?

Nah I'm just not all that fond of an alleged lawyer of 25 years (I am yet to be convinced that you are indeed a lawyer in any country or ever have been) correcting my use of a word contained in reputable dictionaries with one that has the exact synonymous meaning and includes my chosen word in its definition of such aforesaid dictionaries.

I’m yet to be convinced you schooled Daniel San in karate either, but I’m prepared to take you at face value for the purposes of this discussion.
