I know there was a lot of excitement around Sam Curran but he looks very pedestrian so there was a hope that his batting kicked on which I still think it needs to do. Surprised England have picked him this early personally.
I think that's fair. He's talented but this feels a year or two ahead of schedule. Let's hope you and I are both wrong.
Presumably Buttler will move up to 6 in the batting order. Cricinfo have Curran at 6, which would be ridiculous.
Even with Woakes replacing Wood, this looks like a lower order that could disappear for not very many.

Anyway, Curran's selection got me thinking about pairs of brothers who have both played for England in my lifetime. I came up with Adam and Ben Hollioake, Chris and Robin Smith, Tony and Ian Greig. And before anyone mentions the Graces, they were a year or two before my time.

Sam Curran isn't that quick, no doubt about it, but at least he adds variation with his left arm angle. I actually think it isn't a bad decision.

Azhar isn't in great form right now, so decent chance for England to make some inroads here.
