Its amazing to think that Bancroft is arguably the third best bat in the country.

Bancroft is streets behind Renshaw to start. Hard hands and always fends outside off. Decent bowlers with any sideways movement should consistently get him. If we talk non openers then Maxwell is way better. Bancroft should never have gotten selected or the SA tour after his Ashes return.

Granted Bancroft didn't go as badly as I fear he might've, but it's hard to argue he's better than, say, Burns. And third best batsman in the country? I'd put him behind a few non-openers as well.

I'd like to see an all-rounder who actually bowls, let alone something of use in the side. So Moises, Hilton and Marsh can **** right off. Otherwise why bother? It'll be like watching Mitch Marsh getting dismissed anyway, Wildermuth's technical flaws are that similar. Also let Fergo just his just desserts after getting used like a cheap Thai hooker at Hobart.

Either way, we're in for 12 months of getting ****ed. Might as well have fun with it.

The rankings are fluid beneath Smith and Warner but arguably he is. He has faults but doesn't have any more work to do than Renshaw, who gets bogged down and has problems with the moving ball too. And I'd put those two ahead of Burns. Maxie is a fair call but his stats are only comparable to Bancroft despite having 4 years on him.

Surely, under the circumstances, you'd be begging SMarsh to not retire and praying he doesn't get injured. Hilarious modes of early dismissal and Maxwell aside, he's the only bloke in the country right now you'd back to make a match or series changing contribution, whether it be in good times or stopping the rot. The rest, it's all potential and hope.

He wont retire, he probably will get injured, he wont make any match changing contribution let alone one for a series. But got to keep picking him.

After winning the Ashes 4-0 I didn't think we'd be this far back just 4 months later.

I think sadly the selectors didn't mess up, we definitely do not have obvious candidates available.

The positives from the Shield is seeing new young names scoring a 100 this season. Guys like Doran and Pucovski. They were the youngest to do so ? We probably watching the NSW trio of J.Edwards, Sangha, Uppal next and probably the most talented of this bunch in Mackenzie Harvey. These sorts need to put a couple of seasons together but this is always the exciting part. Seeing how or if they progress or not.

Suppose Queensland can be happy with Labuschagne and Heazlett's progression in 4-day cricket ?

Has anyone here actually seen Harvey bat?

Assuming they're not reduced, we may be humiliated by losing to India in our own back yard.

CA can always go down the 'just don't pick them' route if they are. It will be a big test of their principles if the bans are reduced. After tonight's flogging they must be a little nervous. Dropping a home series to India could be as damaging as the current scandal.

I don't know if they're accepting there's no chance they'll be reduced, just that it's reasonable to make judgements on the basis that the bans will occur as currently set out until further notice.

Remember Vic Orthodox endorsing him but can't remember if he had seen him but certainly general talk is big.

Australia Youth hundreds (when barely anyone touched double figures) and seemles transition to Futures and CAXI at his age seems like he is ticking the boxes.

Well, Labuschagne is gradually improving with his output which is good but Heazlett has regressed since his debut season imo. Made decent strides with his technique adjustments but still a lot further to go, his stats deceive his potential.
