Nearly all were dire in the larger picture but they did provide some truly memorable moments for us.

Balaji - some great spells in our series win in Pakistan
RP Singh - 5er at Lord's, troubled Pietersen
Sreesanth - bowled us to a couple of wins in SA, that ball to Kallis

Should probably pick Sreesanth tbh. He was actually very good for a whole season before joining the wheel.

One of the unluckiest men in Indian cricket imo.
He bowled pretty well on debut in the first innings with no luck. Wasn't that good thereafter and in his 2nd and last test though.

Was tough times for spinners back in the day. Shivalkar and Goel took 1350 FC wickets between them at <20 but neither played a single test.

Utpal Chatterjee was very unlucky too. He was clearly India's 2nd best spin bowler in the 90s after Anil Kumble but never played test cricket.
Venkatapathy Raju on the other hand played 28 test matches - just because he was from the State of captain Mohammad Azharuddin.
