i don't trust nz to chase 20 against bowling of this quality so im still very skeptical but i'll take a deficit of under 50 after 36/5

Broad bowling to Wagner is like Broad bowling to himself. Swishes at stuff, gets in silly positions and hardly ever in line.

Love this tail wag. England must absolutely hate it.

England can still go a long way to claiming this match with a big opening partnership.

Wood's test bowling is pure poop...worse than the Agarkar or Sami level imo
nah

i remember when he debuted. he sent down some nice stuff. i don't know who has been in his head telling him he's a 150 click bouncer bowler though because he's not. should pitch it up and get it to talk like in the early days.

the thing is he's not even trying to bowl proper bouncers either...at the moment he's just spraying them all over the place...one ball 3 stumps outside leg stump at navel height, next ball 5 stumps outside off at waist height

What is he even trying to achieve?

that was so subdued i thought for a moment it was along the ground for a single

big third innings here. england could seal this game, or at least make it psychologically daunting with anything over 200 given the first innings shenanigans.

I remember thinking last night I'd be happy with 80 runs, so can't really sniff at that. Great effort by Southee from the looks. Huge 45 minutes coming up.

Haven't seen our overs before lunch but problem here is we're not getting the new ball in the morning - probably not going to do as much through the air.

I think trying to be more positive with his footwork probably hindered his judgement outside off stump in that innings. Was going at the ball a lot more.

It's so hard to get back in form as an opener. Toughest time to bat and it's usually against the oppositions best bowlers.

He has to be close to done, no? You can't carry an opener who doesn't do anything of substance for 9 out of 10 innings, regardless of how impressive the 1 of 10 is.
