I know I'm a bit late on this, and it's almost certainly been mentioned at the time, but the crowd's behaviour as Smith left the airport was ****ing atrocious. I can only assume they laughed when they found out Hansie's plane had hit a mountain, and then heckled his family and yelled out 'cheat' at his funeral. I mean...we wouldn't want to be hypocrites after all.

While some of the cricketing community forgave Hansie.... much of the public though will never forgive Hansie for what happened. I actually remember hearing the words `good riddance` after his plane crash.

Not that this in anyways excuses the manner of those people at the airport....

Yea as much as I felt a huge deal for Smith..I knew as soon as that question was asked that he would say it was the only time and that it would be a lie. (Well I say knew but it's hard to imagine it being a true answer.)

Imagine if that was a loaded question with some footage coming out in a few days proving otherwise. fmd.

For me personally, looking at this as a fan, I felt a deep sense of disappointment in Smith when I woke up to the news on Sunday. I had looked up to him a lot for the way he had reinvented himself a few times to become the best batsman in the world. Love stories like that.

So it was good to see him show remorse and ask for forgiveness. I don't think the Aus public will have any problem forgiving Smith in the long term..Hopefully he uses the time off to get strong again mentally and I will be very excited to see his return.

No, Bancroft and Smith got sanctioned by the ICC exactly as Faf got sanctioned. The fact that the Australian public and CA went off the deep end has nothing to do with anybody else in world cricket. And I say this again, this stopped being about a ball tampering incident a long time ago.
