Can't wait to see David Warner score 800 in an afternoon for the Wagga Wagga Wobbegongs in between BBQ duties and selling raffle tickets. .

He really does sound like he would just cop it and move on. He really doesn't seem the most assertive personality off-field.
You'd think even a non-assertive guy would challenge such a harsh punishment if given the option. It's not like they're going to make it longer if he does. He would be absolutely, completely crazy not to.

The article talks about 'independent commissioner' and later 'CA comm.'. How independent I wonder?

I guess one positive from this is that cricket is all over the media right at the start of football season. Take that, winter codes.

Any publicity is good publicity... right? *cough*

I wonder if the players are so p***ed off with Warner partly because they think he should take more responsibility and the flak off Smith. It's always been pretty clear Smith has been a more popular figure in the dressing room. Warner seems to have few actual friends in cricket, just as Michael Clarke has/had few friends.

I'd believe him because I don't buy at all that the bowlers weren't consulted and the coach didn't know. Also other people on the field would have to know to give the ball to Bancroft.

Anyway, the punishments were way too harsh on these three - at the expense of other people who got away scott free.

Let's put this into perspective. It was cheating but they were trying to win. This isn't match fixing. It's only worse than running onto the pitch because it was premeditated and it was a conspiracy from the leadership (i.e. Not one rogue person). But not THAT much worse.

The autobiographies once some of these guys retire are going to be wonderful.

I haven't heard that tbh. He certainly has enemies but I've never heard that he's friendless.

Yeah, it’s absolutely crazy it’s dominated here in Victoria footy-dominant radio shows like 3AW’s Sports Day.

I guess the public reaction shows how much how many people care about the sport.

Feel bad for Bancroft. Sounds like a slightly weird, mild mannered person from what I have read, heard and seen. Can see myself doing **** like that to impress someone I looked up to in my younger days. Smith was probably out of his depth and didn't know how to handle Warner. Warner didn't have no authority figures to set firm boundaries. I blame Lehmann.

There is NO way Warner will take this lying down. At some point he and Candice are going to start hitting up the media. Get the popcorn out.

I suppose I could see Warner fighting this ban but considering everybody in the side seems to hate him now, would he want to come back? A tell-all autobio would be much more lucrative.
