Just imagine if we had any other keeper right now. Wade would have been in on the act and probably have insisted on it, Carey would have been coerced into doing it and Nevill would be too weak a fella.

I hope he does get it and we don't end up flying Bailey over or something just to captain. In a few months we've gone from lambasting the selection """"policy"""" behind his return, and by tomorrow he could have resting on his shoulders the onus of changing decades of Australian cricket culture into something else completely.

How many games will he miss in 6 months? Imo a suspension for 1 series in each format is more than enough. Can resume captaincy once he's back.

Next series is against Zimbabwe (one off test) and few ODIs maybe then home series against BD ( two tests and three odis) then the India series
